Report: Player in London for Spurs medical tonight as fifth signing approaches – Spurs Web

Tottenham Hotspur could be closing in on their fifth signing of the summer transfer window, according to Spanish news outlet Sport.

The report claims that Barcelona central defender Clement Lenglet is currently in London and will undergo his medical this evening.

The French international will move to Antonio Conte’s side on a season-long loan deal with the North Londoners covering eighty-five per cent of his wages, and also having the option to make the move permanent for €10 million (£8.5 million).

Lenglet will provide extra competition on the left-hand side of the back three with Ben Davies having occupied the position last season.

Spurs have been busy since the end of the season in their attempts to reshape Conte’s squad with Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma and Richarlison all arriving through the doors in N17.

Lenglet appears to be something of an underwhelming signing given the previous links with the likes of Josko Gvardiol and Alessandro Bastoni, the Frenchman now has the opportunity to prove his worth and fight for a place not only in the Spurs line-up but also for a place on the plane to the World Cup in November.
