Top January transfer
For Tottenham and head coach Antonio Conte, the transfer window has been anything but easy so far. In the negotiations for desired Wolves player Adama Traoré, FC Barcelona, who now have the best chances, recently interfered, while in the race to sign Luis Díaz from Porto, Liverpool now seem to be in the pole position.
According to Sky Sports, the Reds are considering making an offer for Díaz as early as January due to the concrete negotiations between Spurs and Portugal’s league leaders, and The Athletic even goes a step further: according to football journalist David Ornstein, Jürgen Klopp’s team is well on its way to securing Díaz’s services for €60 million plus possible bonus payments. This package could make the winger the third most expensive signing in Liverpool’s history.

Colombian sports journalist Pipe Sierra reports a transfer fee of €45 million plus €15 million in add-ons and that Díaz hopes to sign with the Merseyside club in a timely manner. Former club Junior FC, which he left for Porto for a fee of €7.2 million in 2019, would have a €9 million stake in the potential deal.
Spurs target Díaz prefers move to Liverpool – Mané to leave in the summer?
First, A Bola linked Liverpool with the Colombian winger and wrote about the interest in a summer transfer – the exit clause of the most valuable footballer in the Portuguese top tier is estimated at €80 million. The Telegraph subsequently reported an offer of €45 million plus €10 million in bonuses from Tottenham. Not enough for Porto, who want at least €60 million.

The Portuguese will apparently find themselves in a strong situation in the final days of the transfer window, with two financially strong Premier League clubs courting their star player, whose contract does not expire until 2024. According to Ornstein, Díaz, who has been in outstanding form since the Copa América in 2021, prefers a move to Anfield Road.
If Liverpool get serious by January 31, it could point to a summer departure of Sadio Mané, who, like Díaz, plays on the left wing. At the Reds, both Mané’s and Mohamed Salah’s contracts expire in 2023.
