LaLiga return

Tottenham’s Giovani Lo Celso has found a way out of his tricky situation: The midfielder, who mainly only made short appearances across 19 matches in the current season (one goal/two assists), joins Villarreal on loan until the end of the campaign. This was announced by the Spanish first division club a few hours before the transfer deadline.

The Argentine reunites with head coach Unai Emery, an old companion, which he knows from common days at Paris Saint-Germain. Under the Spaniard, Lo Celso made 53 appearances (six goals/nine assists) – more than under any other manager. Emery was the decisive factor in the move. Lo Celso had rejected a transfer to Olympique Lyon, where teammate Tanguy Ndombélé moved on Deadline Day.
