Rumours and speculations about a possible transfer of Donny van de Beek come to an end for now. The midfielder moves from Manchester United to Everton, who sign the Dutchman on loan until the end of the season without an option to buy. The Liverpool-based club will reportedly pay the full salary.

According to former sporting director Marcel Brands, Everton were already interested in van de Beek last summer, but the deal fell through at the last minute. As a result, the former Ajax player continued to be a second choice at United and struggled for playing time under interim head coach Ralf Rangnick and predecessor Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The €39 million summer transfer from 2020 played just 380 minutes across 14 appearances. These figures make him one of the most expensive reserve players in the world. His market value also suffered from the lack of match experience and recently dropped to €25 million, which still makes him one of the most valuable transfers on deadline day.

The fact that the loan does not include an option to buy is due to the fact that Rangnick’s successor is supposed to decide for himself how and whether to plan with van de Beek in the summer. The Dutchman, who previously turned down an offer from Crystal Palace, is under contract with the Red Devils until 2025.
