Permanent transfer

Dele Alli is on the verge of a move to Everton, according to information acquired by Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The Toffees have reportedly reached an agreement with Tottenham on a last-minute transfer on Deadline Day, the contract will be signed shortly. Romano did not give any details, but it will most likely not be a loan deal, as recently rumoured in English media reports.

The contract of the 37-time England international in London still runs until 2024. Alli, who has not been the first choice at Spurs for some time, is, along with Donny van de Beek, a desired player of the new head coach Frank Lampard, who was also officially announced on Monday. Already at the end of last year, Tottenham had allowed the midfielder to leave in the winter.

Sky Sports had previously announced doubts about Everton’s financial willingness to agree a Deadline Day deal with Tottenham. The club had already invested around €37.5 million in the signings of Vitaliy Mykolenko and Nathan Patterson in the current transfer window – but also brought in €30 million by selling Lucas Digne to Aston Villa.

Alli, who has scored 88 goals in 181 Premier League matches to date, was considered one of the biggest young talents in English football just four years ago. After 25-year-old was unable to match expectations in the past two years – also due to injury – he lost this status and at the same time struggled to get regular playing time, which was also reflected in his market value development: Since January 1, 2019, only five players worldwide have recorded a greater loss than Alli, who is currently valued at €25 million.
