Arsenal fans have called for Erling Haaland to be suspended as they believe he ‘put hands’ on referee Simon Hooper.

The striker was absolutely incensed with the official in the late stages of Manchester City’s 3-3 draw against Tottenham on Sunday.

Haaland was fouled and Hooper initially waved on the City advantage, but pulled play back despite Jack Grealish being played through.

Pep Guardiola’s side were furious with the decision as they felt they had a great chance to score what would have been a dramatic winner.

Haaland in particular was very angry with what had just happened, with the Norwegian shouting in the referee’s face.

And some Arsenal fans, whose side are currently three points clear of City at the top of the Premier League table, believe he made contact with Hooper in his protests by putting his hands on him.

Taking to X, one said: “Haaland definitely put hands on the referee there. If the FA and Premier League are serious organisations, he will be charged and suspended.”

A second added: “Disgusting behaviour.”

A third said: “Saw that too, see how they surrounded the ref, but if it were Arsenal it’ll be a different case.”

Other fans have drawn comparisons to Aleksandar Mitrovic’s ban last season after he shouted and barged into referee Chris Kavanagh in Fulham’s FA Cup defeat at Manchester United.

He was banned for eight games and as a result, one fan on X said: “Mitrovic got an 8 game ban… See you next season, Erling.”

Another added: “Haaland should face a FA punishment like what happened Mitrovic of Fulham last season.”

Haaland had many chances to find the back of the net against Spurs but he squandered them as City dropped points once again.

They have now drawn their last three games in the Premier League, with Chelsea and Liverpool also holding the reigning champions.

City led the match on two occasions but a spirited fightback from Spurs saw the north London side end their losing streak.
