Spent €162m
Nottingham Forest made headlines last summer after paying €162 million for 23 new players—a new British record for the most players signed in a single window. Despite the changes, Forest have struggled in the Premier League and, despite a 1-1 draw against Aston Villa on Monday, remain in the relegation zone.

Even though Steve Cooper was signed to a new contract, the results have meant that Evangelos Marinakis has made some significant changes in the sporting leadership of the club. On Oct. 5, the club announced the signing of sporting director Filippo Giraldi. Club sources indicated to Transfermarkt at the time that Giraldi will be auditing the sporting decisions made throughout the summer and the overall structure of the club.
That audit may have now led to the first changes at Forest. The Telegraph reported on Tuesday that head of recruitment George Syrianos and head scout Andy Scott have been sacked by the club. Syrianos and Scott are paying the price for a frantic transfer window that is yet to yield success. Giraldi will now lead the charge in finding replacements for both positions at the club.
