Ole Miss’ Lane Kiffin Posts Cryptic Photo on Future Amid LSU, Florida HC Rumors

Lane Kiffin made another cryptic post about considering his future amid rumors he could leave Ole Miss to coach at LSU or Florida.

Kiffin posted a photo of a page from Brianna Wiest’s The Pivot Year three days after the Rebels improved to 10-1 with a win over visiting Florida.

“How do you know what to do next?” The passage read. “You ask yourself, honestly, what your 90-year-old self would advise you to do. What they would have wished you had done. You ask yourself, honestly, what you’ve sensed from the beginning. What you have ignored, what you have quieted and distracted yourself from.”

“You make two lists, the positives and the negatives, and you weigh them. And if there is one thing on the left that overpowers the dozen things on the right, then you trust that. You ask yourself what path will make you more of the person you are meant to be.”

Kiffin captioned the post by referencing the Rebels’ record and tagging the Ole Miss football program.

This isn’t the first time Kiffin has posted a passage from The Pivot Year, which is billed as “a book of 365 daily meditations on finding the courage to become who you’ve always wanted to be.”

Kiffin posted another passage from the book on Nov. 2, which read that “the right ones will encourage you and inspire you, often without saying a word.”

He shared a different quote on Oct. 2 stating that “one of the characteristics of having a big destiny is that things don’t work out for you right away.”

Kiffin’s latest post comes the day after The Athletic’s Stewart Mandel reported Ole Miss had given their head coach “an ultimatum” to make a decision regarding his future with the program ahead of the Nov. 28 matchup with Mississippi State.

Mandel noted that his source “did not say what would happen if Kiffin remains uncommitted prior to the Egg Bowl.”

Multiple previous reports have connected Kiffin as a candidate for the head coaching vacancies both at Florida, which fired Billy Napier in October, and at LSU, which dismissed Brian Kelly the following week.

This weekend’s win over Florida kept the Rebels are on track to possibly earn the program’s first College Football Playoff berth. According to Mandel’s report, however, whether Kiffin recommits to Oxford ahead of the Egg Bowl could potentially determine if he is still around by the time Ole Miss is potentially making its playoff debut.
