Deal imminent
Milan are set to sign Sergiño Dest on loan from Barcelona. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Italian giants have beaten out Manchester United and LaLiga side Villarreal, who were also interested in the 21-year-old US men’s national team right-back. Dest will initially join Milan on loan. The Serie A champions will have an option to make the deal permanent, in which case Dest will sign a deal that will keep him in Italy until 2027. A transfer is now imminent.

The 21-year-old originally joined Barcelona from Ajax in the summer of 2020 in a deal worth €21 million. The Catalans beat out Bayern Munich at the time. The right-back, however, struggled for playing time and has been heavily linked with a transfer away from Barça all summer as he wants to secure playing time ahead of the 2022 World Cup this winter. With a market value of €18 million, Dest is one of the most valuable American players on the planet.
