BS Meter on the Latest World Football Transfer Rumors for November

Julian Alvarez has been brilliant for Atletico Madrid since joining from Manchester City in the summer of 2024.

The Argentine has scored 38 and assisted 12 in 72 games for the side from the Spanish capital, although Atletico hasn’t exactly given him the kind of success his performances have deserved.

Los Rojiblancos finished third in La Liga last season, 12 points back of league-winners Barcelona. After 12 games in the 2025-26 domestic campaign, they are already six points off pace-setters and city rivals Real.

With that in mind, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the 25-year-old was casting his gaze elsewhere for more opportunities to lift silverware.

Reigning Spanish champions Barcelona wouldn’t be a bad landing spot, and L’Equipe was not shy to ask Alvarez whether he fancied playing for the Blaugrana or Ligue 1 heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain.

“I see what people say on social media,” he told the French publication, via Goal. “In Spain, people speak a lot about me and Barcelona. For now, I am focused on Atletico, and we will review at the end of the season.”

That wasn’t exactly a “no,” but it seems doubtful that Barça could actually make a move happen.

The club’s financial issues are well documented, and signing Alvarez would likely require a lot more than the £82 million ($108 million) Atletico paid for his services in the first place.
