New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson and New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave are two players NFL insiders believe “could be available” ahead of the Nov. 4 trade deadline, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Friday.
The news comes ahead of what is expected to be a busy deadline. Teams are anticipated to make “at least” a dozen more trades over the next few weeks, per Schefter.
Other Saints players Schefter reports could hit the trade block include running back Alvin Kamara and defensive end Cameron Jordan, Schefter reported.
Other potential trade targets include Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins, Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson, Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews, New York Jets running back Breece Hall, Miami Dolphins outside linebacker Bradley Chubb and Seattle Seahawks cornerback Riq Woolen, according to Schefter.
Wilson signed a one-year, $10.5 million deal worth up to $21 million with incentives ahead of his 2025 season with the Giants.
After leading the Giants to an 0-3 start, the veteran quarterback lost his starting job to rookie Jaxson Dart ahead of Week 4.
Wilson said at the time that he wouldn’t request a trade or a release this season, although his relationship with both head coach Brian Daboll and Giants fans has seemingly deteriorated since then.
The veteran quarterback most recently took two snaps while Dart was receiving medical attention during a Week 6 win over the Philadelphia Eagles.
Wilson attempted one pass, which fell incomplete, as fans at MetLife booed and Daboll expressed visible frustration on the sideline.
A trade could allow Wilson a better shot at starting again this season, while the Giants could bump third-stringer Jameis Winston up to back up Dart.
The difficulty could be finding a trade parter for Wilson. CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones reported last week that Wilson, Cousins and Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson had not so far received trade interest after losing their respective starting jobs in 2025.
Jones noted, however, that any team interested in Wilson would only owe him only the remainder of his $2 million salary. He estimated the quarterback’s trade value as “a Day 3 draft pick.”
Olave has meanwhile been subject to trade rumors as the 1-4 Saints head into a second straight trade deadline as potential sellers.
After missing the last eight games of the 2024 season with a concussion and dealing with an ankle injury in August, Olave returned in time for the 2025 season opener.
Through five games the 25-year-old leads the Saints with 33 catches for 244 receiving yards with one touchdown.
Schefter reported Friday that the Pittsburgh Steelers “are expected to explore upgrading their roster in the weeks ahead of the deadline.”
The Steelers have been linked to potential wide receiver trades around the NFL since losing Calvin Austin III to a shoulder injury in a Week 4 win over the Minnesota Vikings. Should the Saints decide to shop Olave, he could end up as a target for Pittsburgh if the team is looking to bolster its wide receiving depth ahead of the deadline.
