The Netherlands seems to be the flavour of the month for the Reds. Liverpool have a Dutch head coach and a Dutch coaching stuff.

The club’s captain Virgil van Dijk is also Dutch, and some of the best players in the team in Ryan Gravenberch and Cody Gakpo represent the national team as well.

In the years to come, that contingent may increase even more and there might just be one talented defender who will be hoping to put himself on that list.

Especially after his latest revelations about his feelings towards the club.

Givairo Read expresses massive love for Liverpool and why Slot likes him

In a short interview talking to Voetbal International’s YouTube channel Feyenoord’s 18-year-old right-back Givairo Read was asked to decide between Manchester United and Manchester City.

Read’s subsequent comments will be music to Liverpool fans and echo their own sentiments as well.

“Liverpool, for sure! Nothing else, no one else,” Read told the reporter with a glint in his eye and a beaming smile.

That is a telling statement highlighting Read’s massive admiration for the club and given the uncertainty surrounding Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future, a possible transfer may not be out of the question.

Read has been in brilliant form for Feyenoord this season, breaking into the club’s starting line-up and catching the eye in the Eredivisie and the Champions League.

In his most recent outing against AC Milan, Read played a crucial role in helping his side secure victory. He won the most tackles in the game (five out of eight) and also won eight out of his 11 attempted duels.

Considering he was coming up against the formidable Raphael Leao, who thrives in one vs one situations, that is a very commendable effort considering he completed just three of his seven dribble attempts.

Earlier on in the season when coming up against the same opponent, Alexander-Arnold didn’t fare any better defensively, allowing Leao to complete five out of six dribble attempts while winning one of his three attempted tackles.

Of course, Read is by no means ready to make the step-up to Liverpool. He is 18 years old and he is still very raw. But we know Arne Slot rates him highly.

It was the now Liverpool head coach who first called Read into the first team at Feyenoord and it was Slot who handed Read his debut for the Dutch side.

That combined with Read’s love for the club and the quality he is showing this season, should at least put him on the radar of Richard Hughes if the worse comes to worst and he has to replace Alexander-Arnold.

Having Read as a back-up with Conor Bradley as Liverpool’s first choice could be a smart way to negate no.66’s departure.
