With a brace on Sunday, Raúl Jiménez has become the all-time top Mexican PREMIER League goalscorer.
The Fulham striker scored two penalties against Ipswich, as the Cottagers managed a 2-2 draw against the relegation-battlers at Craven Cottage.
The goals were the 54th and 55th of Jiménez’s PREMIER League career, with the first breaking the previous record of 53 that was held by Javier “Chicharito” Hernández.
Jiménez has scored the majority of his PREMIER League goals with Wolves, whom he joined in 2018 from Benfica. The 33-year-old moved to Fulham ahead of the 2023-24 campaign, netting seven times in his debut season with the Cottagers.
This season Jiménez has been in excellent form, with his brace on Sunday taking him to eight goals in 20 league matches.
Hernández tallied the majority of his PREMIER League goals during four seasons with Manchester United between 2010 and 2014, returning to England in 2017 to play two more seasons with West Ham.
On the international level, Jiménez is fourth on Mexico’s all-time top scorers chart. With 36 goals, he only trails Cuauhtémoc Blanco (38), Jared Borgetti (46) and Hernández (52).
