Manchester United return to action on Thursday when they travel to Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.

Ruben Amorim’s side produced a dramatic late comeback to beat rivals Manchester City 2-1 in the Premier League on Sunday, and the Portuguese will be hoping to see his side pick up where they left off when they visit Spurs.

The Lilywhites will provide a stern test for the Red Devils, though, having cruised to a 5-0 win against Southampton on the south coast on Sunday evening.

Off the pitch, it has emerged that United have joined the race to sign a talented young Premier League star.

As per Football Insider, the Manchester club are interested in Southampton winger Tyler Dibling, but may have to wait until the summer to make a move to sign him.

The report suggests that the Red Devils have joined Newcastle United in the race to sign the Saints star, who has been a rare positive for the south coast side as they have struggled so far this term.

Dibling, 18, made his debut for Southampton last term and has featured in 15 of their 16 Premier League matches so far this term.

Dibling is a target for Manchester United

He netted his first goal for the club during a 1-1 draw against fellow strugglers Ipswich Town in September, and his impressive displays have attracted interest from both Man United and Newcastle.

Despite the interest from elsewhere, the report claims that Southampton are adamant the player won’t be allowed to leave St. Mary’s during the mid-season January transfer window.

Russell Martin, who was sacked by Southampton after the defeat against Tottenham on Sunday, recently insisted that the club would demand a significant fee to allow the player to leave.

He did, however, then reveal that talks over an extension to Dibling’s contract – which is currently set to expire in 2027 – have stalled due to his agent’s demands.
