Signed for just €35m
Martin Ødegaard was once again in fine form for Arsenal on Sunday afternoon, when his side put local London rivals Tottenham Hotspur to the sword in a comfortable 2-0 victory. The result not only provided valuable bragging rights for fans of the Gunners, but also saw Mikel Arteta’s team stretch their lead at the top of the Premier League table to eight points. And the Norwegian international played a pivotal role in the result.
Although it was Bukayo Saka that broke the deadlock after just 14 minutes, when his close-range shot took a deflection to get the better of Hugo Lloris in goals, it was Ødegaard’s shot from the edge of the box 12 minutes later that all but confirmed all three points for Arsenal before the game had even got started. Once again, Arteta’s young side had upset the odds and held their grip at the summit of the league table.
Goals and assists aplenty – Ødegaard exemplifies Arsenal’s youthful exuberance
Signed in 2021 for little more than €35 million after a lukewarm loan spell at the club, Ødegaard made the move to North London after struggling to live up to the hype at Real Madrid. But over the course of the past 18 months, the 24-year-old midfielder has gone from strength to strength in Arteta’s side and now finally looks like the player he had always promised to be.

Indeed, Ødegaard sits as Arsenal’s eleventh most expensive signing ever but has perhaps been the club’s most inspiring transfer in recent memory. To date the Norway international has bagged 17 goals and 12 assists in 83 appearances for the club and in this current league campaign alone he has bagged eight goals and five assists in just 17 appearances. Which works out at 0.82 goals and assists per 90 and is the midfielder’s best return in a major European league to date.

How much is Ødegaard worth at Arsenal?
While fans of the London club will be fully focused on what Ødegaard is doing on the pitch, there’s no doubt that such performances are also having a directly impact on his status off it as well. When the midfielder made the move to Arsenal in 2021, his market value had undoubtedly plateaued and stood at just €40m – a notable drop from the €50m he was priced at two years earlier. However, since making the move to the Premier League, Ødegaard has seen his market value increase no less than four times to where it now stands at an impressive €60m. And there’s no doubt that it could continue rising if the player can continue his impressive performances and perhaps even help Arsenal claim their first league title in 20 years.
