Agnelli & Nedved leave

In a shock move, the entire board of directors at Juventus, including president Andrea Agnelli and vice president Pavel Nedved, have resigned from their positions on Monday evening. First reported by Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Serie A record champions have since confirmed the news in a club statement published on Juventus’ official homepage.

According to the statement, the board stepped down after “having considered the centrality and relevance of pending legal and accounting issues.” Juventus have been under investigation by prosecutors in Turin for allegedly falsifying accounting practices and irregularities when it comes to transfers and loaning out players.

With new information available, the board decided to resign. “[We] considered [it] to be in the best social interest to recommend that Juventus equip itself with a new Board of Directors to address these issues,” the statement on the homepage read. Current managing director Maurizio Arrivabene was asked to stay on for an interim period while a new board could be brought together the statement added.

This is a developing story and new information will be added when available…
