Luis Suárez set to join LA Galaxy? – MLS the “most likely” destination

By

RAC1 report

Luis Suárez is set to leave Nacional for a second time, but his new destination is not yet determined. But there are strong indications that the striker could be headed to Major League Soccer. The Catalan radio station RAC1 reported that the 35-year-old could join the Los Angeles Galaxy ahead of the 2023 season. Talks between both parties appear to be advanced.

The former Barcelona, Atlético, and Liverpool star is a free agent as his contract in Uruguay will expire in December. With a market value of €8 million, the Uruguayan is one of the ten most valuable over 34-year-old players on the planet. Suárez, should he join the Galaxy, would be one of the 25 most valuable MLS players.

Suárez has indeed confirmed in an interview with Marca that MLS is a possibility. “It is the option that I think is the most likely,” Suárez said. For now, he is, however, enjoying his time at Nacional. A return to Europe is not an option. “I already had a fulfilled career in Europe, which I am very proud of,” Suárez said. “I had several options [in Europe], but ultimately, I had a good reason for returning to Uruguay: Groningen, Ajax, Liverpool, Barça, Atlético… would a better career in Europe even have been possible? It was perfect.”

Second goodbye from Nacional? – Luis Suárez on the verge of joining LA Galaxy

Suárez joined his youth club Nacional this fall and has scored four goals and three assists in nine Primera División games. The forward originally emerged from the Montevideo-based club’s academy and has scored 441 goals and 243 assists in 710 professional games. His current market value would make him the most valuable LA Galaxy player ahead of Riqui Puig.
