Report
Chelsea have invested €201.6 million in the transfer market since the takeover by the new ownership group. And the next transfer fee is only a question of time. According to the Spanish outlet Relevo, Chelsea and Barça have reached an agreement for the transfer of striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
According to the report, Chelsea will pay €22 million for the 33-year-old forward. The transfer can grow by an additional €5 million should certain performance-based add-ons be reached. There is optimism that a transfer can be concluded very soon. Aubameyang is now set to return to London after leaving Arsenal just six months ago.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Casemiro, Mané & Co.: The most expensive over 30 players
Aubameyang left Arsenal in February for Barcelona and is under contract until 2025. But the striker has lost his spot to new signing Robert Lewandowski and featured just eight minutes over the first two match days this season. Aubameyang scored 11 goals in 17 LaLiga games after joining the club ahead of the second half of the season.
Aubameyang transfer: Chelsea need a striker, Barça need money
Chelsea are in need of a striker. The club only has the injured Armando Broja and Michy Batshuayi under contract. Aubameyang would be reunited with former Borussia Dortmund head coach Thomas Tuchel. Under Tuchel, the 33-year-old scored 79 goals and 17 assists in 95 games for Dortmund.
Barça, in the meantime, need money to register Jules Koundé and Aubameyang is likely to free up the necessary resources. The deal would, in fact, be the biggest of the summer. Philippe Coutinho was sold by the Catalans for €20 million to Aston Villa. The Gabonese forward would become the third most expensive over 32 player behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Lewandowski.
