10 Premier League players involved
Ten players owned by Premier League clubs are still on this year’s list for the Golden Boy award after it was cut down from 80 to 60 nominees. The voting, established by Italy’s Tuttosport, involves young talents who stood out at their clubs and national teams for particularly good performances within the last calendar year. They must be younger than 21 and have played in Europe during the corresponding seasons.

The list is reduced by 20 players on the 15th of each month until 20 youngsters remain in mid-October. The cut in August saw as many as 30 players removed, though the Italian outlet also added ten new ones, including Chelsea’s summer signing Carney Chukwuemeka, Cole Palmer of Manchester City and Alejandro Garnacho, who hopes to make the breakthrough at Man United. Mathys Tel, Reinier, Kenan Yildiz, Karamoko Dembélé, Bjorn Meijer, Mattia Viti and Kristjan Asllani have also joined the race to win the prestigious trophy.
In return, players such as Jérémy Doku, Luka Sucic and Rayan Cherki have been removed in the meantime and are no longer part of the 2022 Golden Boy list. In Jude Bellingham (Borussia Dortmund) and Noni Madueke (PSV Eindhoven), it also includes two English footballers playing abroad.
