No exit clause at Leipzig
Right after Christopher Nkunku renewed his contract at RB Leipzig until 2026, there were rumors about an exit clause that would allow the French forward to leave the club next summer. But Transfermarkt was able to confirm that there is no written clause in Nkunku’s contract. Leipziger Volkszeitung, in the meantime, reported that there might be a verbal agreement in place that would allow Nkunku to leave for around €70 million next summer. But Nkunku has now said in an interview that a departure next year is unlikely.
“For me, it was never in doubt to renew my contract at RB Leipzig,” Nkunku said at a press conference at Leipzig’s training camp in Austria. “I am very happy at the club and the city. And I think my job isn’t finished here. As a result, I have no plan to leave the club next year.”

With a market value of €80 million, the Leipzig forward, together with Bayern’s Joshua Kimmich and Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham, is the most valuable player in the Bundesliga. In the last few years, the most valuable players tended to leave the league. The most prominent examples are Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland.
“As a team, we have done an amazing job last season, and I feel we can achieve even more,” Nkunku said when asked why he has no plan to leave the club for the Premier League. “I want to continue that successful pathway with RB Leipzig.”
