The Hammers celebrate Declan Rice's goal against Southampton

West Ham United’s pre-season schedule continues to take shape with the announcement of further friendly matches against Reading, Leyton Orient and Northampton Town.

With an away fixture at Scottish giants Celtic already confirmed on Saturday 24 July, the Hammers’ preparations for their 2021/22 Premier League and UEFA Europa League campaigns will be further bolstered against opposition from the English Football League.

Pre-season will kick-off in early July with a week-long training camp at St Andrews in Scotland – the same base David Moyes and his squad used in preparation for their record-breaking 2020/21 season, which ended on Sunday with a 3-0 victory over Southampton, a Club-best Premier League tally of 65 points and qualification for European football.

Upon their return south, the friendly fixtures get underway on Tuesday 13 July with the first team squad split between a double header of matches against EFL League Two sides Leyton Orient and Northampton, both kicking-off at 7pm.

Orient finished the last season eleventh in League Two and count former Hammers’ Academy product Dan Kemp among their ranks, while Northampton suffered relegation from League One after finishing 22nd.

The following Wednesday, 21 July, the Hammers will travel to Championship side Reading for their next friendly, which will also kick-off at 7pm.

The Royals just missed out on the play-offs last term, ending in seventh place with 70 points. Former West Ham striker Sam Baldock has spent the past three seasons at the Madejski Stadium, scoring eleven goals in 74 appearances.

Moyes takes his team to Celtic three days later, while further details on West Ham United’s pre-season schedule ahead of the 2021/22 campaign will be announced as they are confirmed, with the new Premier league season due to get underway on the weekend of 14/15 August 2021.

Should COVID-19 protocols allow, West Ham United will be given an allocation of away tickets for all four friendly matches confirmed. Full details will follow in due course here on whufc.com.
