Ghanaian international Kamaldeen Sulemana scored his first and second goals for Southampton in a 4-4 draw with Liverpool on the final day of the Premier League season. Despite being a club-record signing, Kamaldeen had only contributed to a defeat against Newcastle United prior to this match. Manager Ralph Hasenhuttl had kept the player on the substitutes bench for five of the last six league matches due to his lack of experience in the Premier League. Speaking about Kamaldeen’s absence, Hasenhuttl stated that it was a process for the player to learn the Premier League way and adapt to the level of competition. The Liverpool game provided a good opportunity for Kamaldeen to get some playing time, the manager said, as the opposition was playing a less organised team due to injuries. Hasenhuttl was pleased with Kamaldeen’s performance and stated that sometimes a little bit of time is needed for a player to reach the required level of performance.
