Done deal!
As expected, Eintracht Frankfurt have signed striker Santos Borré to replace André Silva. The 25-year-old Colombian joins on a free transfer after his contract at River Plate expired this summer and signs a deal until 30 Jun. 2025.
“Rafael Santos Borré is an exciting player, who has already collected experience in European club football,” Frankfurt director of sport Markus Krösche said. “His goal instinct and accuracy will help us. We are happy to have signed a player of international format. Both in sporting and business terms, this is an excellent transfer.” With a market value of €17 million, Santos Borré was the third most valuable player available on the market. The striker is also the sixth most valuable Bundesliga transfer in 2021/22.

Santos Borré, who also had offers from Major League Soccer—Toronto FC were interested—and various South American clubs is not a classical number nine but can also play further back behind a natural striker. The 25-year-old has collected 74 scorer points in 149 games for River Plate. At the moment he is on active duty with Colombia at the Copa América and will face Argentina on Wednesday.
