Bild provides update
There are increasingly more signs that Jadon Sancho will leave Borussia Dortmund and join Manchester United. Bild reported on Wednesday that Man United are closing in on Dortmund’s demands of €95 million, plus add-ons that would make Sancho a €100 million transfer. But more importantly than the numbers, the German paper believes that a deal is nearing completion. The main question remains, will United finally accept Dortmund’s demands?
Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that all parties are confident that a deal could be completed very soon. According to the report, Man United have increased their initial offer of €70 million to now €85 million, which is still €10 million short of Dortmund’s demands. Romano believes that United will fill the gap to the initial €95 million by adding further bonus payments—Dortmund, however, have thus far been adamant that they want an initial €95 million.
In truth, BVB are not interested in selling the player but have an agreement with Sancho to accept an offer that fulfills the club’s parameters. “It would be good for us if he stays,” Michael Zorc said to the Ruhrnachrichten last week. “The weeks that Sancho was out showed us the value he has for our team.” Sancho joined Dortmund in 2017 for €7.5 million from Manchester City and is under contract until 2023. Dortmund have already lined up Donyell Malen and Noni Madueke from PSV as potential replacements.
