Following their dreadful second-half performance against Chelsea on Sunday, Harry Kane and Tottenham became the latest targets of one of Roy Keane ’s infamous rants.

The former Manchester United captain has developed a reputation for tearing into players who fall foul of him with their actions both on and off the pitch.

Keane does not hold his opinions back, much to the delight of anyone who is watching his punditry on Sky Sports.

Spurs were comfortably beaten by Chelsea on Sunday, having just two shots in the second half as the Blues took home the three points.

And Keane spoke of his unhappiness with both Tottenham and Kane in particular during his post-match analysis.

“I’ve no problem with Tottenham being short of quality, even Kane’s body language today, his performance today Kane, oh my goodness,” he told Sky Sports.

“I’m pretty angry watching Spurs there, you talk about football, the second goal the difference between desire and wanting to win a football match we seen that.”

So in honour of Keane and his infamous rants, Mirror Football has taken a look at 10 of his best tirades…

1. On a David De Gea error to gift Spurs the lead

Keane launched an astonishing rant at David De Gea

“I’m fuming watching this. I can’t believe Manchester United, I can’t believe Luke Shaw heading the ball and running forward.

“I am staggered at Maguire, staggered that an international player can just get done by this.

“I am sick to death of this goalkeeper. I’d be fighting him at half-time… I would be swinging punches at that guy.

“It’s a standard save for an established international goalkeeper. I am flabbergasted. Maguire and De Gea – I wouldn’t even let them on the bus after the match. Get a taxi back to Manchester.

“We’re trying to analyse the game… you do your job. We’re trying to get into the top four, nevermind win the league.

“Shocking! Maguire, I am disgusted with him and De Gea. You should hang your heads in shame.”

2. On Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell speaking to Billy Gilmour which saw both forced to isolate

“I think the other thing I’d be critical of is why you’d want to speak to an opposition player, I don’t care if he’s your team-mate or not, for over 20 minutes.

“I very rarely speak to anybody for over five minutes. After a game, where you’ve been to war against somebody, why would you want to chat to them for that long?

“They could have used a bit more common sense.”

3. On Tottenham’s Serge Aurier and Danny Rose

“The two Tottenham full-backs. Dreadful. Dumb and Dumber I’d call them.

“I thought they were really poor, you cannot compare them to the two Liverpool lads who were absolutely fantastic. I thought they were a joke, really abysmal.”

4. On Jose Mourinho complaining about fixture congestion

“I’ve never heard so much rubbish in my life. Why do we have to listen to that garbage? It’s just utter nonsense what he’s talking about.

“He’s manager of Manchester United, one of the biggest clubs on the planet. The squad he’s got, and he keeps moaning about fixtures and fatigue.

“We were just looking at some of the cup draws they’ve had. They’ve had an easy ride in the cups, some good draws and a lot of home draws.

“The guy’s talking absolute nonsense. I’ve never heard so much rubbish in my life. Man United reserves could have won that game tonight (against FC Rostov). I’m sick to death of him.”

5. On Liverpool and Manchester United players hugging in the tunnel

“You’re going to war. Hugging and kissing, don’t even look at them. You’re going to battle against them.

“The game hasn’t changed that much, the players have. Maybe chat to them after the game. Actually, don’t even chat to them after the game.”

6. On Jack Wilshere after defeat to Ostersund in the Europa League

“Where do I start… I think Arsenal are a great example on how not to start a game of football. We can talk about being a shambles but they’re so slow out of the blocks – poor attitude.

“The manager summed it up. No energy, no desire, you’re looking for your senior players to lead by example.

“I always think, when Wilshere’s your captain, to me, probably the most overrated player on the planet.

“And they got lucky with the result at the end of it. But if you start a game slowly, no matter how good you are, it’s hard to get going. You can’t just switch it on and off.”

7. On Ashley Young after an apparent dive against CSKA Moscow

“I think the guy’s a disgrace and if he’s a Man United player, I’m a Chinaman.

“Absolute disgrace, he’s done it far too many times. Look at that. Absolute disgrace. And I just hope players are getting a hold of him, whether it be the manager or some of the senior players.

“That shouldn’t be accepted at Man United. That’s absolutely disgraceful.”

8. On Arsenal players’ tradition of taking selfies in the dressing room

“There’s too many Arsenal players interested in selfies, whatever they are, and six-packs.

“Instead of focusing on winning Premier League titles, it’s all about how their bodies look and how their hair is. More so than winning football matches the way things are going.

“They’ve lots of good players. But it’s about having a good team, characters who roll their sleeves up, not just those trying to get their pictures every day of the week, selfies. Selfies will hold them back.”

9. On Jordan Henderson’s fitness ahead of Euro 2020

Keane blasted Gareth Southgate’s decision to select an injured Jordan Henderson in his England squad for Euro 2020 in the summer

“He can’t be fit if he can’t start the game against Romania. Physically and mentally, today’s game won’t be that tough to deal with.

“He’s an experienced player, but to not kick a ball for three-and-a-half months and go to a European Championship… he can’t be right.

“I’ve heard lots of people say they want him around the place? For what? Does he do card tricks? Does he have a sing-song? Do quizzes in the evenings? What does he do?

“And if you’re Liverpool then you wouldn’t be happy either. Surely Jordan doesn’t want to be around the place if he’s some sort of cheerleader, you want to play, and clearly he’s nowhere near it.

“What you need after being out for three-and-a-half months is three or four games maybe. If he gets through the second 45 minutes, does that mean he’s an option in two or three weeks?

“He’s clearly not fit enough.”

10. On Paul Pogba’s calling Man Utd’s 4-0 defeat to Everton “disrespectful”

Paul Pogba also fell on the wrong side of Keane following a defeat at Everton in 2019

“I wouldn’t believe a word he says. There’s no meaning behind it. I don’t even think he believed what he was saying there.

“He talks about being a good team-mate – if you’re going to be a good team-mate then you need to run back when you’re defending.

“He said it got a bit heated after the game against Everton – I heard they were actually throwing their hair gel at each other!

“The guy’s a talented boy but we’re saying the same things over and over again. The number of times I’ve seen him in games where he’s not sprinting back or running back…

“He’s talking about body language – he was throwing his arms up in the air. He’s a big problem.”
