USMNT talent
RB Leipzig have officially signed Caden Clark. The 18-year-old attacking midfielder arrives from Major League Soccer club New York Red Bulls and will sign a contract until 2024. A typical number 10, Clark will remain in New York until the end of the 2021 Major League Soccer Season. Trained by Minnesota Thunder and the Barca Academy (Casa Grande), Clark became a permanent fixture for the Red Bulls in 2020 and also the player with the highest entry market value in MLS history.
“Caden Clark has fantastic skills and enormous potential,” RB Leipzig technical director Christopher Vivell said in a club statement. “He can play anywhere across attacking midfield and is incredibly adaptable in his playing style. As well as that, he is a scoring threat, has great passing quality, and strikes the ball well, allowing him to score goals from range. These skills make him a perfect fit for our playing philosophy.”

“Everyone at the club is very excited for Caden to take the next step in his professional journey,” said New York Red Bulls head of sports Kevin Thelwell in a club statement. “From the time Caden joined us, I think we all recognized that if he continued to work hard and take advantage of his opportunities, Caden had the potential to move to Europe. We’re delighted to have played a role and helped him make the jump to a top-five league like the Bundesliga.”

RB Leipzig verpflichtet Caden Clark: Die Konditionen des Deals
Clark’s transfer to RB Leipzig has been an open secret for some time. In January, The Athletic published financial details on the transfer. Several media reports, including by Transfermarkt, reported that a pre-contract was signed last year. It is expected that Leipzig will transfer $2 million to their sister club in New York. That deal can grow to around $3 million. Leipzig paid a similar fee for Tyler Adams in 2019—he also joined from RBNY. Clark confirmed to Transfermarkt last winter that he had visited Leipzig.
