After founding consultancy company
Ralf Rangnick has become an independent consultant and, for the foreseeable future, will not work as a sporting director or head coach. Instead, he will become the head of sports and development at Lokomotiv Moscow. “Four months ago, the club asked me to develop a sporting status-quo-analysis,” Rangnick said in an interview with Süddeutsche Zeitung. “I created it one and presented it in Moscow, which explains why there have been rumors that Rangnick could become the new head coach or sporting director at Lokomotiv Moscow.
Instead, his company will now take over a role that will include several tasks at the club based in the Russian capital. These include strategic planning and sports development as well as the interconnection between the first team, the academy, and the reserves. The consultancy contract runs over three years.

Rangnick stressed that the new consultancy company will be his focus in the future. “I have founded a company with limited liability, which is based on four pillars,” Rangnick said in the interview with SZ. “Those four areas represent what I have learned over the last 15 years at RB Leipzig and 1899 Hoffenheim.”
That includes club building, consulting coaches, managers, sporting directors, and players. “My motto is small but nice,” Rangnick said when asked about the size of the new agency.
Ralf Rangnick becomes a consultant: textural development rather than commercial focus
Rangnick is convinced that his new agency will fill an important void. “I don’t think anyone else who has worked as long in the business as I have is offering a similar consultancy role,” the former head coach said and stressed that he does not want to be a player agent in the traditional sense. “It is not about furthering careers commercially. It is about the textual development of players, coaches, managers, and people working in the business. There is still room in football to improve management roles.”
From Rangnick to Zidane: Famous coaches on the market
After founding his company, Rangnick will only work as a sporting director or head coach under exceptional circumstances. “I feel that with the all-around package that we are offering that I can return something to the sport,” Rangnick said. “It would take an exceptional offer to walk away from what I have now created for myself.”
