Burnley return to action later this week when the Clarets take on Fulham at Turf Moor.
Sean Dyche’s men returned to winning ways over the weekend with a 3-0 win over Crystal Palace.
Johann Berg Gudmundsson, Jay Rodriguez and Matt Lowton were all on the scoresheet for the Clarets as Burnley increased the gap between themselves and the relegation zone to 11 points.
That gap to 18th placed Fulham was narrowed yesterday, however, when the Cottagers picked up three points with victory over Everton at Goodison Park.
Josh Maja netted twice for Scott Parker’s men as the Craven Cottage outfit narrowed the gap between themselves and safety to seven points, with Newcastle United in 17th.
The Clarets sit 16th and a point ahead of the Magpies.
Burnley entertain Fulham at Turf Moor on Wednesday evening as the Clarets aim to build on the victory over the Eagles.
But following yesterday’s positive result for Fulham, a projected Premier League table has foreseen a negative impact on the Clarets.
In the latest calculation undertaken by the CIES Football Observatory, Burnley have been tipped to end the season in the bottom three following the latest win for the Cottagers.
Both Fulham and Burnley are projected to rack up 34 points this campaign, but Parker’s side are forecast to leapfrog the Clarets and achieve safety at the expense of Dyche’s outfit.
The projection is calculated using statistics which take into account shots on target and from the box attempted or conceded.
It also includes ball possession, teams’ own passes and those of their opponents in the opposite third of the pitch.
