Tottenham Hotspur fell to a shocking North London Derby defeat this evening at the hands of Arsenal, with the Gunners running away 3-1 winners.
Let’s take a look at how the individual Spurs players got on:
Hugo Lloris – 6.5 – Felt very sorry for him. A World Cup-winner reduced to picking it out of his own net. Made some saves too. Hard to captain that collapse from between the sticks.
Japhet Tanganga – 2 – Had a hand in at least two of Arsenal’s first-half goals and was subsequently replaced at the break. Reading of the game was shocking today.
Davinson Sanchez – 3 – Very similar to Tanganga. When play came down the right side, Sanchez was all over the place. At fault for at least two of the goals again. Shocking.
Eric Dier – 4 – Never quite in the right place at the right time, but by no means the worst defender out there, even if that isn’t much of a compliment. His long balls were awful.
Sergio Reguilon – 5 – Got caught up the pitch way too often in the first half, leaving the remaining defenders to shuffle across, which is why Arsenal got so much joy from the cut-backs. Didn’t do enough going forward in the first 75 mins but a good assist later.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 3.5 – A rare shocking day for the Dane. He was a passenger in the first half and didn’t seem to have his usual desire to get stuck in. Sad to see.
Dele Alli – 2 – The game literally passed him by in that first half and he was rightly taken off. Not much more to say than that.
Tanguy Ndombele – 5 – At least he was trying to make a few things happen, but the game plan really didn’t suit him. Improved in the second half but still below par.
Lucas Moura – 6 – I often feel for him. He was really to be the spark in the first-half, bravely driving at the heart of Arsenal, but he was very much on his own. At least he was showing a bit of desire and bite though. Almost scored to make it 3-2.
Harry Kane – 3.5 – Absolutely woeful in the first half and lost the ball for the third goal. In the second, he was a lot better. Should have had a penalty and missed a great chance.
Heung-min Son – 5 – Rarely got in the game. His main way to contribute was from dead balls and the majority of them were woeful. Finally popped up in a dangerous spot and scored so credit for that but far from his best game.
Substitutes:
Oliver Skipp – 6 – If we learned one thing after he came on, it was that Skipp should have started. More passion, desire and graft than all in the first 45 combined.
Emerson Royal – 3.5 – Can’t say he was awful but also don’t think he offered anything either. It was a much kinder half to come into as the game was already lost.
Bryan Gil – 6 – Came on in the second half and looked very bright. Won the ball back for Tottenham’s only goal. A bright spark who perhaps should have started.
