Update Fortuna Liga
Transfermarkt has updated the market values of the Czech Fortuna Liga. After their third championship in a row, Slavia Prague once again have the majority of the most valuable players. The most valuable player, however, is Adam Hlozek from city rivals Sparta. The 18-year-old received the top value as part of the Euro 2020 market value update ahead of the tournament.
With the exception of Hlozek and Ladislav Krejci—he is ranked eighth (unchanged at €4.5m)—the entire top 15 is made up of players playing for Slavia, which won their seventh Czech league title in club history without losing a single game this season (to the most valuable players of the Fortuna Liga). Midfielder Nicolae Stanciu (+€1m to €7m) is now on the shared fifth spot, right back Alexander Bah (+€1m to €4m), striker Jan Kuchta (+€1m to €4m), and left-winger Oscar Dorley (+€1.5m to €3.5m) all increase their value.
Former Czech national team player David Limbersky, in the meantime, experienced the biggest drop. The 37-year-old left-back from Viktoria Plzen and former Tottenham Hotspur player saw his market value drop to €200,000, which is a drop by more than half of his former market value of €450,000.
The Transfermarkt market values are calculated, taking into account various pricing models. A major factor is the Transfermarkt community, whose members discuss and evaluate player market values in detail. In general, the Transfermarkt market values are not to be equated with transfer fees. The goal is not to predict a price but an expected value of a player in a free market. Both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant in determining market values. Examples of this are listed below. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (you can find the detailed market value definition here).
