The start of the 2021/22 campaign is still seven weeks away, but Fantasy Premier League have dropped a number of player prices this week, including Manchester United’s.
Coming off the back of the fixture release last week, United supporters now have the opportunity to decide which three Red Devils players are worthy of making their squad ahead of the first game of the new season – a mouthwatering tie with Leeds United on14 August.
Most fans will likely have Bruno Fernandes in their squads ahead of that encounter, but he will come at a premium thanks to his incredible form since moving to Old Trafford in 2019. The Portuguese playmaker topped the charts last season with 244 points, two more than the next closest player, Harry Kane.
That’s why Fernandes will set you back a whopping £12.0m in the virtual transfer market, but that somehow does not make him the most expensive player in FPL. That particular distinction is shared by Kane and Mohamed Salah, who are valued at £12.5m each.
A potentially cheap pick from the Manchester United squad could be Jesse Lingard, who is valued at £7m. The midfielder ended the season with nine goals and five assists in 16 games with West Ham and if he continues along the same vein next season, he could be an excellent choice. Particularly if he leaves Old Trafford this summer.
United’s captain Harry Maguire is valued at £5.5m, while Marcus Rashford is priced at £9.5m. The United star is classified as a midfielder in FPL, despite playing in an advanced role. He finished as United’s second highest scorer with 174 points last season.
Mason Greenwood is yet again marked down as a midfielder and costs just £7.5m, meaning he could offer excellent value with his goal scoring threat. Paul Pogba is also valued at £7.5m.
United forward Edinson Cavani is valued at £8.5m , while Anthony Martial is slightly lower at £8.0m, which, given his poor form last season, might be considered a tad overpriced.
Values for some of United’s younger players are yet to be revealed. Amad, who arrived in January and played just three Premier League games, could be more involved next season after catching the eye for the club’s reserves.
United’s Donny van de Beek will be hoping to bounce back from a miserable season. Considering his previous performances for Ajax and the old adage – form is temporary, class is permanent – the Dutchman could be a wildcard option for United supporters at £6.0m.
The Red Devils will be gearing up for an important season ahead. Time will tell who will be added to United’s squad this summer with the potential arrival of Jadon Sancho.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be keen to add more ammunition upfront and at the back too. That could mean a few more Manchester United additions come the start of the Premier League campaign.
