Jude Bellingham, Borussia Dortmund’s 19-year-old midfielder, has reportedly made Liverpool his top choice should he leave the German club this summer. Liverpool are said to be willing to match Dortmund’s £130m asking price for Bellingham, but they are aware that their success in securing Champions League qualification may be crucial to securing his transfer.
According to reports from Football Insider and Times journalist Paul Joyce, Liverpool would be Bellingham’s preferred destination, as he is still held in high regard by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp. Joyce wrote that “Borussia Dortmund’s teenage tyro remains the apple of Klopp’s eye”, adding that “with the 19-year-old on board, what has appeared at times as a chasm would narrow overnight. He considers Bellingham a transformative figure and that is a vision that Klopp would be keen to share with the England midfielder.”
Liverpool‘s interest in Bellingham is not the only transfer news linked to the club. Spanish publication Nacional claimed on Friday that Klopp is keen on two targets and is looking for a “double robbery” from under the noses of Real Madrid, signing not only Bellingham but also RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol. The report claims that Bellingham’s deal is already “in the bag”, and Liverpool are also interested in signing Real Madrid’s target Gvardiol. According to Nacional, Liverpool is “one of the favorites” to acquire the Croatian center-back and is ready to “take another of Florentino Pérez’s wishes.”
Another Spanish publication, Fichajes, has claimed that Liverpool is “close to closing the signing” of Ryan Gravenberch from Bundesliga giant Bayern Munich. Gravenberch, an 18-year-old Dutch midfielder, has been tipped as one of the brightest prospects in European football.
These transfer rumors follow a week in which Liverpool suffered a heavy defeat to Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Despite this, Klopp and his team remain optimistic about their prospects for next season, and the potential addition of Bellingham, Gvardiol, and Gravenberch could be seen as a significant boost to their chances of success.
Overall, it is clear that Liverpool is keen to strengthen their squad this summer and that they have identified some of Europe’s most promising young talents as potential targets. With the start of the summer transfer window just a few weeks away, it will be fascinating to see which players Liverpool ultimately manage to sign and how those signings impact their fortunes in the coming season.
