Jamie Vardy insists his involvement with US soccer club Rochester Rhinos will not distract him from his “priority” of continued success with Leicester City.

The Foxes goal machine has become a part owner in the club, which is “back on the map after a four-year hiatus”.

The Rhinos – founded in 1996 – most recently played in the United States Soccer League in 2017.

The club announced the news of Vardy’s investment on their Twitter page, saying: “The Rochester Rhinos are delighted to announce that Premier League star @vardy7 has become a co-owner of the club.

“The @LCFC striker has bought a minority stake & is excited by the prospect of being part of a journey that puts the Rhinos and Rochester back on the map after a four-year hiatus.”

Vardy took to Twitter soon after to declare his excitement about the challenge with Rochester.

He wrote: “I’m really excited to say that I have become a co-owner of the @rochesterrhinos today. The club has been through some difficult years recently, so I can’t wait to play a part in helping to turn things around. It won’t be easy, but I never do anything the easy way!”

“I’d like to thank everyone that’s helped me get to this point but a special thank you goes to my new co-owners, David & Wendy Dworkin.

But Vardy stressed he remains fully focused on the Foxes as he thanked the club for their support.

He added: “I also can’t thank @LCFC enough for allowing me to do this, they know, and I know, that this project will not in any way distract me from my priority, which is helping Leicester to be successful for many more years to come. Lets do this #Rochester.”
