Leeds United have been relegated from the Premier League following a 4-1 defeat at Elland Road to Tottenham. The club apologised to fans for the “painful” relegation, but insisted it was now in a “strong position” to challenge for promotion from the Championship. Manager Sam Allardyce urged the club to sort out its ownership problems quickly to aid the route back to the top flight. The shares of Leeds majority shareholder and chairman Andrea Radrizzani are understood to be up for sale to American co-owners 49ers Enterprises. Tottenham, whose win was not enough to secure European football, also face a manager hunt.
