A real tough matchup takes place on day two of the Round of 16 at the UEFA European Championships, as the no. 1 team in the world, Belgium, meets the defending champions, Portugal.
Belgium has slowly built into a power in international football over the past half decade. After making it to the quarters at the Euros for the first time since 1980 in 2016, the Belgian squad finished third in the 2018 World Cup. Now, they look strong coming out of Group B, only giving one goal in their three contests, outscoring opponents 7-1.

Portugal, dare I say, survived and advanced out of the Group of Death, as they finished third in Group F with a 1-1-1 record. They won their first match convincingly against Hungary, before being lambasted by Germany. Thankfully, a tie against group-winner France gave Portugal enough points to move on. No question, the star of the tournament has been Cristiano Ronaldo, who amassed five goals in group play, and now is tied for the most goals in international football, with 109.
In each of their seven previous Euro appearances, the Portuguese squad has made it to at the least the quarterfinals.
While the two teams have met during Euro qualifying, this will be the first time that Portugal and Belgium will play in the actual tournament.
