FIFA 22 will introduce a new set of ICONs (Legends) to Ultimate Team, from the Premier League, Bundesliga, Serie A, and beyond – but which players will it be?
Each year, before the new FIFA game releases, fans across the globe pour in with ideas for what EA SPORTS can change, add, or remove from the game.
In the last few titles, a group of ICON cards have been added to the collection – with David Beckham arriving late, after Christmas in a shock update. Now, all eyes turn to the next unrevealed set of special cards, with some leaks pointing at the likes of Cafu and Di Natale set for inclusion.
In FIFA 21, EA dropped the biggest crop of ICONs yet, with over 100 being up for grabs. As FIFA 22’s release date draws near, let’s take a look at every leaked and rumored ICON mentioned so far.

The FIFA 21 ICON list was huge.
This list of leaked players includes Arsenal legend Robin Van Persie, Real Madrid’s Iker Casillas, the iconic Wesley Sneijder, as well as Manchester United cult hero Park Ji-Sung.
On top of those more modern players, Gabriel Batistuta – better known as Batigol – and Jaap Stam are also mentioned. The pair have long been on wishlists for new ICONs, but haven’t been added before.
Insider Futzone has also tipped dual Argentinian and Spanish international Alfredo Di Stefano to get a new-look ICON style.

Looks like Wesley Sneijder might once again be playable in FIFA 22.
On July 6 a new leak emerged that revealed all-new ICON Hero cards coming to FIFA 22 and their ratings, these are listed down below:
Player | Club | Nationality | Rating |
Abedi Pelé | Marseille | Ghana | 89 |
Aleksandr Mostovoi | Celta de Vigo | Russia | 86 |
Antonio Di Natale | Udinese | Italy | 88 |
Clint Dempsey | Fulham | USA | 85 |
David Ginola | PSG | France | 89 |
Fernando Morientes | Real Madrid | Spain | 86 |
Freddie Ljungberg | Arsenal | Sweden | 86 |

Jerzy Dudek | Liverpool | Poland | 85 |
Joe Cole | Chelsea | England | 87 |
Jurgen Kohler | Borussia Dortmund | Germany | 89 |
Robbie Keane | Tottenham | Ireland | 86 |
It was revealed at the same time as the player rating leaks above that FIFA 22 will be bringing us an entirely new type of ICON: the Hero card. Hero cards are basically lower-rated ICON cards or notable players from past games that have been given the chance to tear up the pitch once again.
Whether or not they’ll be cheaper than other ICONS or how they’ll fit into Ultimate Team remains to be seen, but at least we know a new category of card is headed our way.

On top of those, FUTWatch discovered a number of new FIFA 22 teams and leagues had been added to the current game’s code.

New ICONs club leaked
EA will likely keep quite a few of the FIFA 21 ICONs and move them into FIFA 22, and add a handful of new names.
However, with a list emerging that’s much bigger than usual, there may be a change of format in FIFA 22.
FUTWatch also revealed two other changes to the code, with the addition of “ICONs Club” and “FUT Heroes Club” replacing FUT 21 ICONs.
There was a team in the code called “FUT 21 Icons”
In the latest code update, EA renamed it to “Icons Club”
They also added a new team called “FUT Heroes Club”

Perhaps this could mean a much larger pool of ICONs are coming in FIFA 22 than we might have expected, split into two groups with a new card rarity – “Heroes”.
Once Dexerto gets confirmation on these names, we’ll update this article.
