The long pre-season of Fantasy Premier League is underway, with some fantasy managers already hitting double digits for draft Gameweek 1 squads created.

Defining ‘fixture difficulty’
When it comes to analysing fixtures, Fantasy Premier League provide us with their Fixture Difficulty Rating (FDR). At first glance, this looks to be a solid reference point: it’s based on a complex algorithm and takes into account home and away form for each side’s previous six fixtures.
