As we approach what is set to be a crucial period for teams up and down the league, we bring you our favorite betting pick for each game along with a score prediction and a player to look out for in fantasy.
Before we dive into the picks, we want to remind you that betting on sports should be fun. If you are not enjoying it, stop. And remember, only bet what you can afford to lose.
For the upcoming weekend, there are only seven games on the slate as the FA Cup quarter-finals take place. However, we return to 16 games in gameweek 29, with 12 teams having a double gameweek. This makes it one of the biggest two gameweeks for your FPL teams.
Let’s look at our top picks for each game:
Friday, March 17th, 2023
Newcastle United (-145) at Nottingham Forest (+425)
Score prediction: Nottingham Forest 1 – 1 Newcastle United
Forest is unbeaten in their last nine home games, making them a more appealing FPL play. Morgan Gibbs-White is the most viable play for fantasy, with two goals and seven assists this season, all coming at home. Newcastle’s Alexander Isak is an interesting option at just 1.8% rostered.
Saturday, March 18th, 2023
Bournemouth (+390) at Aston Villa (-140)
Score prediction: Aston Villa 2 – 1 Bournemouth
Villa’s Ollie Watkins is a top striking option with six goals in his last seven games. Defender Alex Moreno is also a nice alternate option with two assists in his last three starts. Philip Billing is the only Bournemouth player worth considering with six goals this season.
Leicester City (+265) at Brentford (+100)
Score prediction: Brentford 2 – 0 Leicester City
Brentford has an abundance of options in FPL this week, with Christian Nørgaard and Mathias Jensen making fine midfield options. Playing a defender or ‘keeper is a viable option given Leicester‘s recent struggles in front of goal. If Leicester were to get a result, James Maddison will likely be involved in any Leicester goal.
Tottenham (-120) at Southampton (+340)
Score prediction: Southampton 1 – 2 Tottenham
Harry Kane remains a top option in FPL with seven goals and three assists in his last 10 games. Fraser Forster at £3.9M is a good discounted option in goal this weekend. James Ward-Prowse remains the only Southampton player worth rostering.
Leeds United (+230) at Wolves (+130)
Score prediction: Wolves 1 – 1 Leeds United
This game could easily end goalless, but Jack Harrison is an interesting midfield option with involvement in all three of Leeds’ goals in their last five games.
Everton (+700) at Chelsea (-220)
Score prediction: Chelsea 2 – 0 Everton
Chelsea is finally showing signs of gelling, with last weekend’s 3-1 win being the first time since October that they’ve won back-to-back league games. Mason Mount should be heavily involved in any Chelsea goals.
These are our top picks for the upcoming weekend games. Remember to have fun with your betting and only bet within your means. Have a great weekend of soccer!
