EA tease FIFA 22 reveal date and new game mode ahead of EA Play event

EA have announced four EA Spotlight events that will feature in the build-up to the EA Play main event, teasing a FIFA 22 reveal date.

The EA Play 2021 main event is to take place at 6pm BST on Thursday, July 22, 2021, with EA confirming that the event will be around 40 minutes long and will feature what’s next for EA games like Battlefield 2042, Apex Legends and possibly FIFA 22.

But EA have also revealed that there will be four separate EA Spotlight events before the main event, with each event focusing on specific talking points from select gaming titles.

On Thursday, July 8 2021, at 6pm BST, Apex Legends and Battlefield 2042 will feature in “The Future of First-Person Shooters” Spotlight event. On Tuesday, July 13 2021, at 6pm BST, It Takes Two, Lost in Random and Knockout City will feature in a “EA <3s Independent Studios” Spotlight event.

On Monday July 19 2021, at 6pm BST, there will be a ” Madden NFL 22 All-Access: Scouting – How the Community is Shaping Madden NFL 22″ Spotlight event.

And finally, on Tuesday, July 20 2021, at 6pm BST, EA are teasing an event that will feature “an extremely cool new addition to an extremely popular and long-running EA SPORTS franchise”. This sounds a lot like EA Sports FIFA.

In regards to the “new addition” to the franchise, many fans are speculating that EA could announce an Online Career Mode for FIFA 22, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

There are have also been various rumours and apparent ‘leaks’ circulating on social media in regards to FIFA 22 over the last few weeks, with these posts suggesting that there could be a brand new commentator, FIFA 22 will run at 120 FPS on next-gen consoles, new FUT 22 Icons and more.

For the EA Play main event, EA are promising “real excitement, focusing on games that are coming out soon rather than in the all-to-distant future”

“The show is a fast-paced one, coming in around 40 minutes and will feature what’s next for games like Battlefield 2042 and Apex Legends,” EA revealed on their official website.

“You’ll also see the first gameplay for Lost in Random, featuring explosive dice battles, time-freezing tactics and card collection.

“We’ll have a couple other games to highlight as well, but for those, you’ll just have to wait and see.”

FIFA 21 is out now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, with FIFA 21 next-gen also available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.

Players who have purchased one of the new next-generation consoles including the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, and who have already previously purchased FIFA 21 on their older consoles, can now upgrade to FIFA 21 next-gen for free through Dual Entitlement.

Players can also carry over their progress and content in Ultimate Team and Volta Football in FIFA 21.
