Jannik Vestergaard had a fantastic season for Southampton this past year and now the rumours are flying about his future with the club.

According to a report from the telegraph, the club is preparing for life without the Centre-back as it looks like he will have a number of suitors this summer after his spectacular season.

On the other hand, Hampshire live is reporting that the club are set on not selling the defender and keeping him around for a little it longer.

All this means to me is that we are in for an interesting summer with transfers and we will have no idea if Vestergaard will stay or go.

On one hand, I would not hate the idea of selling Vestergaard this summer. He has one year left on his contract and is coming off of a great season. Southampton would likely be able to get a decent price for the player and would use that money to bring in some new players.

If there was ever a time to sell him it would be now. He could get injured or regress and then they would be stuck with him without making any money.

There is obviously an argument to keep him as well. He was probably our best defender this season and we could have conceded so many more goals without him. He is also such an enormous threat on set-pieces and that is something we would sorely miss.

It will be interesting to see what ultimately happens with him but I know I would be fine either way. I think the future is Salisu and it does not look like we will go to 3 Centre-backs anytime soon so Vestergaard may have to go or Bednarek.
