Ayo Akinola will switch allegiances from the US men’s national team to the Canadian national team. Transfermarkt can confirm a report by Kristian Dyer (cited via Waking The Red) that Akinola will represent Canada at the Gold Cup.
The 21-year-old striker has been present at both the US men’s national team and Canadian national team training camps in recent months. Akinola then trained with Canada during their run to the final stage of World Cup qualifying. In Akinola, Canada secure another exciting striker. The Toronto FC star becomes the third most valuable center-forward in the CanMNT program.
