Aaron Cresswell reveals objectives for West Ham v Brighton
Veteran full-back Aaron Cresswell has revealed that West Ham United’s aim going into the final matchday of the season is to secure a sixth-place finish.
The Hammers are currently placed in the seventh spot in the points table, just two points behind sixth-placed Manchester United.
Cresswell, while talking to West Ham’s official website, stated that the players are looking forward to the last game.
“Sixth place is the aim,” he said. “Now we need one more last big push to get into that sixth spot. So that’s what we’ll be looking to do. Brighton is another massive game and one looking forward to.”
Box office finish
West Ham are one of the success stories of the campaign where they not excelled on the domestic front but also made a name for themselves in Europe with an impressive run in the Europa League where they were eventually knocked out by the German club Eintracht Frankfurt.
The fans will be hoping that their team will be able to get the better of Brighton & Hove Albion in their final game of the campaign which is pivotal for them to keep their hopes alive of securing a top-six finish.
Even after a win, the Hammers will be hoping for some favour from Crystal Palace who will be the opponent of United who currently have a two-point lead over the London-based club.
Due to superior goal difference, if West Ham manage to secure a win and United were held to a draw or suffered a defeat, the Irons will secure their spot in the second-tier European competition.
