James Pearce revealed on Wednesday that Caoimhin Kelleher is set to start for Liverpool on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are away to Watford in the Premier League and Pearce, who exclusively covers the club for The Athletic, claims that the 22-year-old will be chosen between the sticks.

With Alisson on international duty and unlikely to be back at Liverpool in time, it’s a choice between Kelleher and Adrian for Klopp.

And the fact that the German manager looks set to pick the former is a pretty solid indication that the Spanish keeper is effectively finished at Anfield.

At 34, Adrian, who earns around £58,000 per week on Merseyside, is a much more experienced option than Kelleher, who has but two Premier League appearances under his belt.

And yet despite his experience, Klopp still prefers the young Irishman in what is a pretty damning indictment for Adrian.

Liverpool signed the former West Ham man up to a new deal this past summer, weeks before he was due to be released.

But with January on the horizon and Adrian being the Reds’ third-choice goalkeeper, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see him leave the club this winter.

He isn’t a bad option, but Klopp rating Kelleher higher just proves that he has zero future at Liverpool and in all probability, may never play for them ever again.
